There is a new rule in effect. To streamline the membership process, the USFA would like all its members to complete their membership application online.
If you come to our Division tournament, and have not yet filled out a membership application, and you want to fill out a paper membership application, you may, however, there will be a $10 paper application fee. It is printed on the front of the application.
You can fill out a paper membership application at the tournament, and I will mail it to the USFA, but the total amount will be $80. If you have a smartphone or laptop and fill out the membership application online, then the membership fee is $70 and your application is done online.
Also, to start next season, 2017-2018, all Division tournaments (in all Divisions) will have to provide at least one rated Referee (ratings from 10 to 1). If any of our San Bernardino Division fencers would be interested in getting their Referee rating, even the beginning ratings of 10, 9, or 8 will be sufficient, now would be the time to consider and work toward that goal.
If there is not at least one rated Referee at a Division tournament, then, the tournament will not be a sanctioned tournament which means no ratings will be awarded.
This is just a head’s up as to what will be required for the 2017-2018 season.
